Question about that fuck-awful Gearscore add-on. I heard a while back that since it's got some behind-the-scenes talking amongst themselves and such that it tends to bog the game down. True or False? Because I know before the invention of this add-on, 25s were low framerate but bearable. But now? We're doing 25 man Ignis and it's unberable. My dps as a boomkin, while not fantastic, I could usually hit around 3800 in 25 mans. Tonight, my latency and lag is SO BAD I am below the tanks. It's awful. I want to know for sure, because if it does bog down stuff, I'm going to ban it from raids from now on. |

First PUG.
So, tonight I used the new LFG system and ended up running my first PUG and pretty much my first dungeon ever. It was Utgarde Keep, and I was so proud of my first experience. We had no wipes, an awesome healer, one other DK and a hunter who actually knew what to do. The tank was new, this being their second time actually, so I was kind of nervous. We had fast pulls, no one bickered or anything. I ended up pulling top DPS, to which I now feel confident in running more stuff like this. Also, it makes me happy to know good groups are actually out there besides what I've read on here. So, what I would like to say is, thank you ladies for sparking my curiosity in PUGs and in dungeons in general. I guess it's better to start late then never. :P |

Inscription
I am unimpressed with Inscription right now. I power leveled it when it became available. I made about 20K from it before they allowed you to buy snowfall ink from a vendor. But now there is just no money to be made from it. I figured I would come here and ask you all if you have any suggestions on what to do with it to make some money before I drop it in favor of leveling herbalism again in prep for Cataclysm (my other profession is Alchemy). Glyphs don't go for that much money anymore and I also have to buy the Glyph Mastery books since they never seem to drop for me. Am I missing something or should I stfu and go train herbalism? |

Netherwhelp, I chose you!
While organizing a couple of characters on my alt server, I noticed that my baby Warrior had a glitch on her, causing her to look like she was about to beat someone with a rubix cube. So I logged onto her to fix it and found one of the weirdest glitches ever... ( How'd that get there? ) Current Mood: amused |

How to arcane mage?
I have been fire specced of one sort or another for raids since I hit 80. Frostfire at first, now I'm fireball/ttw. It's feeling like it's time to go arcane (apparently, it's like mage on steroids). But I do not know the specifics of how to spec for it or play it anymore. Can you guys link me some builds? How much haste and crit do I need? What's my rotation beyond 3x Arcane Blast? How To on gear-- general gear question.
Alright. Maybe I'm googling the wrong things, but I have come to the descision that only the wise and helpful ladies (and gents) here can answer some gear questions-- an incredibly huge newby gear question. Namely: I suck at gearing up. I have one piece of ...valor? Badge gear, and the rest is purples from Heroics. I am a TERRIBLY HUGE CASUAL PLAYER and do not raid except very rarely as a fill in. I've seen a couple of small ones -- but never done anyhting in depth like, oh, NAXX, and I NEVER get gear because I'm always a fill in and get passed over because I'm 'just helping out a friend's guild' and so on. This is because of life and time and altaholism. (10 regularly played alts, lowest is 56, not quite five years but close of WoW under the belt... I spend like a year of that unemployed though, so, bleh.) I don't blame them for saying, "No, even alts get gear before you!" but I still want to improve my gear any way I can. The Looking for Group has HELPED me! It's giving me a metric shitton of badges! I could buy gear! I keep getting told HEY BB TIER NINE IS BADGE BOUGHT, and this is a good thing! I COULD HAVE TIER GEAR. I HAVEN'T HAD TIER GEAR SINCE VANILLA WOW. Only-- I don't know where to find it. The new badges system and the eight billion vendors leaves me confused and I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for. So I don't gear and I get left behind by the guild alliance I sometimes group wiht who keep saying HEY HOW ABOUT THAT PRIEST HEALER YOU GET HER AT 80 AND GEARED YET? So, I'm stuck. I don't do much with my 80s because I'm gear stupid. I don't seem to know how to find the appropriate gear and remain perpetually at 'fresh 80 in heroics' level. I'd really like to improve this, but I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for. Help? Current Mood: dumb |

All the little things - the tiny changes of 3.3.
Lots of big changes came with 3.3 that everyone is excited (or not so excited) about, but there have been lots of little changes, too. What have you noticed? What do you like, and what do you dislike? For example, I'm kind of pissing that Frost Nova no longer has the wave of ice come from my mage's feet to prove to me that "hey, the spell worked!" She does the hand motion and usually there's frost on the ground going out in a wave - nope, not anymore, and it seems to me that my spell is more delicate. I know I'm not specced to have Frost Nova last a long time, but it seems like it shatters almost instantly, no matter where I am. There's also that new drum sound when you enter into combat. It freaks me out and reminds me of the noise when you flag yourself pvp, so I'm constantly "oh shit what did I just do to flag myself are there horde around brb cowering in the corner to wait for the timer to fade." And then I'm like, oh. I probably need to browse the new interface options a bit more, to see if I can fix any of the new stuff I'm not liking. XD (This post inspired by the "Are the dwarf boobs more bouncy?" post, of course.) |

LOOOOORE CHECK AND ALL IS WELLLLLLL
Okay. So, I have an obsession with lady orcs, and all my friends know this. I like to write backstories with them, but one is proving to be annoying. My question: How many orc clans are currently surviving and within the New Horde? The two major ones, I know, are the Frostwolves and the Warsong. I was thinking of making my shaman a member of the Frostwolves but damn everyone and their neighbor's yappy dog that RPs an orc makes them from that clan. But looking back over, I'm not sure what all clans seem to be currently existing within the Horde other than the Frostwolves and Warsong, but obviously it can't be just them, considering that both were near extinction less than 10 years ago. So am I forgetting anyone? |

I have no idea what that even means.
Hello, all! I recently fell in love with my baby Shaman-- so much that I'd like to make her my main, since I love healing so much. Problem is, I was a hunter before. My rule of thumb was 'look for agility and hit'. Now I'm playing a totally different class with a totally different role and I have no idea what to look for. I am an Elemental/Resto Shaman (I wanted to be Ele, but I sank some points into Resto since I've been doing DF a lot), and right now I'm keeping an eye out for Spirit/Intellect on my gear ( which you can see here, if you are bored. I have this staff for when I heal, what I'm wearing is for quests.) Problem is... I'm not 100% sure what these stats do. I'm pretty sure Int=mana, but what is Spirit? What does it do? Do I want it? I've been looking at shoulders on the AH since I don't have a pair yet, but if I'm gonna sink 7-9 gold on something, I want it to a.) last and b.) have stats I can actually use. I feel rather silly for stacking spirit when I'm not even certain what it does :x I did some research on my own, but it's either advise for level 80s (which doesn't concern me yet), or severely out of date. It's so weird not just standing around and auto shooting while my pet eats faces. BIZARRE. Current Mood: discontent |

When the Good Get ...Stupid?
I consider myself a fairly decent player. I raid endgame content, while not at bleeding edge pace, I'd consider myself pretty good at what I do. On my mage. This is not about my mage, this is about my fourth 80 - my prot/ret paladin. Mostly ret at the moment, and that factors heavily into this story. I think last night is probably the stupidest I've ever been since maybe when I was level 30 and thought mages wore int/spirit gear. A bunch of officers and I are tooling around doing random heroics on our alts and I decided to bring my ret paladin - she's still got BOA shoulders but the rest of her gear isn't too terrible now that triumph badges and new instances drop loot like pinata candy. I keep checking the meters because honestly, ret rotation isn't hard, but I'm not terribly good. My DPS is around what it might be if people were making fun of pugs and I feel terrible. "Hey guys, I'm sorry that my DPS is so low." No one cares too much about it, everyone else's alts are overgeared but then our healer pipes up. "Are you not wearing a third glyph." ... Cue me looking at my talents and glyphs and realizing that yes, I had never socketed in a third glyph since I hit 80 a couple weeks back. And my spec was still mostly for levelling. We quickly finish up our Nexus run and I scram to the AH to buy glyphs and re-talent myself out of pure shame and razzing from my other raid officers for being so disgustingly RETTTTTTTTTT!!!1111 stupid. So yes, even good players can have stupid moments on their new or not-oft played 80s. What has been your biggest moment of stupid recently? More funnies from a semir-rural WoW household
So, as I've shared with y'all before, our whole family plays WoW: me, husband, and our 7 and 11 year olds. My 7 year old is infamous for being able to tell you at what level you get what spell, no matter what class. This is a proclivity we joke about a lot. Today is my birthday, for which I made a really big, lovely, dark chocolate cake. I went upstairs to wake up my 7yo for school, and upon opening his eyes, he says, "DING! Grats on level 33, Mom." Me: Thanks, baby. Him: You should go to the trainer and train. You get new spells this level. Me:I do? What do I get? Him: Umm, you get "Great Mom, Rank 5", but I think you should put your talent points into "Better Memory". He gets up, stretches, and then says, "Oh! And grats one your achievement, Delicious Chocolate Cake!" He still hasn't actually wished me a happy birthday, but I'll take this conversation over conventional well wishes any day :) |

Should I go Arcane?
My mage is currently dual specced FFB/Fire + TotW. I really like the mechanics of my two fire specs, so I'm reluctant to respec, but I keep hearing about the awesomeness of Arcane, and since I'm trying to be a competitive dps-er, I'm finally considering it. I hate juggling the hit cap, and I rarely have a spriest or a boomkin in my group, so I often have to go FFB for raids because of the lower hit cap. I sometimes have to eat +hit food as well, so the low hit cap requirement of Arcane is extremely attractive. My question to you is: with my current gear (which I realize isn't the best), would I see a noticeable difference in my dps if I respec Arcane? I know my haste is low, so I worry that I won't see much of an increase. Mainly I'm wondering if my current gear is viable for Arcane. Also, what should I keep for my second spec? I know Fire +TotW is "better" dps than FFB, but doesn't FFB have its positives as well? What spec do you use when you decide Arcane isn't the best suited for a particular fight? And here's my armory for reference: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Feathermoon&n=OleannaPlease be kind! Thanks for your help. |

a guide to getting a red winter hat for winter veil
I needed a red winter hat for the winter veil achievement and took my hunter into Nexus last night with the boy. In case anyone was wondering how to get a winters veil hat this year there are three dungeon bosses in northrend *only* that drop it at 100% Grand magus telestra in nexus drops a red winter hat Mage Lord Uron in The Oculus drops a green winter hat Jedoga Shadowseeker in Old Kingdom drops a red winter hat Now.. if your like me hate OK and Occ with a dying passion of a thousand suns and don't mind nexus herrrrrreeee's how you get your winter hat. requirements - you should be lvl 80 as there is some mob skipping involved - nexus needs to be on normal mode - bring a friend to 1. make it more fun 2. take down mobs faster* *as a hunter i am sure i could have solo'd the place but two manning it is much easier. I am sure as a feral druid, a dk or paladin tank you could solo pretty well. Also the dogs and the azure warders see through stealth so there's no stealthing this place. when you head into the instance hang a left *the blue hallway* and kill the first patting mob you see..they are lvl 71 and 72 elites and they have roughly 78000 health but are easy to kill. keep following this hallway down til you get to the patrol with two mage hunters (they silence at this level too, be careful) and kill them. head to the frozen hallway with mobs encased in ice. now... we discovered at level 80 we can hug the left wall along this hallway and none of them aggro to you so just push yourself along that left wall to the end. not sure if you aren't level 80 if they will aggro or not so you could try and hope for the best. pet classes make sure to dismiss the pets ;) then up into the hallway that leads to magus telestra there are about 2 groups of 3 or 4 mobs in this hallway with stewards which i believe can heal so make sure you kill them first. then pull the group in telestra's room and kill them. once thats done you can engage grand magus telestra and take her down, she doesn't do that fling everyone around the room nearly as much on regular as she does on heroic. i think when we did it she did it once the first time and twice the second. she has about 120,000 health on regular mode so it takes some time to kill her but we managed to do it in one split cycle only because my gear is about ilvl 200 and my bf's gear is about 232. So there you go. i wish you well trying it out. we were in and out of the place in 10 mins or so. good luck and happy holidays :) |

Another newbie asking for advice.
So...I'd never played WoW before last week. I downloaded the free trial and loved it. My husband bought the Battle Chest for me and I installed it last night. As of now I'm only a level 18 night elf and I'm playing on a normal server because I don't feel comfortable enough to play on a PvP server quite yet. I'm really just running around, doing quests, and trying to learn more about the game, but at some point I'd like to feel comfortable enough to interact with other people, maybe join a guild, and do group quests. I've actually done one group quest that went very well, but it was a result of somebody randomly inviting me and me following along, having no idea what I was doing or what they were doing and getting lucky enough that the quest they were on was one that I needed to complete too. ANYWAY. I guess I'm just looking for a little advice. At what point did you all start participating in group quests and interacting with others? When did you first get a "handle" on the game and really understand it enough to strategize how you play and how you build your character? Right now I have no idea how to interpret my stats, armor, and points and all of that. I browse the WoW wiki and my strategy guide regularly to try to understand everything better, but I still feel kind of lost. If anybody would like to give me advice on my character, from what they can tell in my WoW Armory profile, that'd be great too. Thank you all so much. All input is appreciated! |

help for a mostly-noob?
So, I was hoping you ladies (and hidden gents) could help me out a bit. I'm a newly-turned 70 undead lock (my roomie just bought wotlk for me yesterday) and I got a chance to check out Utgarde Keep using the new LFG system yesterday. I ended up getting into a group where I was lvl 69 and everyone else was 70-72. To make a long story short, the 72 DK that signed up for DPS began berating me by telling me that my DPS was slow. I mean, stuff was dying, but I guess not as fast as it could have been? I'll admit I don't know much about my gear (I'm trying to do research, but a lot of it is going over my head) so I'm hoping someone could give me some pointers on where to go now that I'm 70-going-towards-80. I would like to raid... some day. And possibly not get yelled at for having slow DPS, because I'm sure there's something I'm missing. My Armory |

Seeking Addon: dMap (or other minimap addons)
I've had this addon for a few patches now, and technically it isn't broken.. but it sure is unsightly right now. Both the dungeon button and heroic/nonheroic/party size "flag" display where the default minimap is.. which happens to be where my buffs are. I have no clue what website(s) have this addon.. so far I can't find it on wowinterface or curse. I really don't want to give it up since it's such an extremely simple and clean minimap. Pretty much it's a square mini map with the blizzard clock placed along the bottom of the map. If you left click it it pings that spot, and if you right click it it opens up the calendar. Mine has a Caith-esque border with a gloss on it. I'm looking for a place to download an updated version or a minimap that does the same (especially the right click calendar part). Thanks in advance! (Unrelated: I'm annoyed that a warlock cannot need-roll on the Forge Ember from H HOS :((( ) |

Awesome Guildie and Shaman Questions
Yesterday was my birthday, so when one of my guildies asked me for my battle.net account email, I got excited. "Ohmygosh," I thought, "he's sending me a present!" Either that, or he's going to hack my account. So I waited with anxious glee until I finished CoS and could check my email. Imagine my surprise when I saw not one, but two emails from Blizzard waiting for me! ( And what did they contain? )Now the question I'm left with is: what the heck do I get him for Christmas? I did get him Je'Tze's Bell for his new holy priest the other day, but that wasn't really for anything. I'd love to get him the Battered Hilt for his pally, but I'd either have to farm up 15k gold (assuming the price doesn't go up; the one on the AH now is listed at 45k but I doubt anyone will buy it) or farm the ICC instances and hope the group decides we can all roll need if it drops (lol shammies can't use swords!). I can't get him anything with real money, because I don't have any. I'm sort of at a loss here, so I'd better get gold farming. And now I have two questions for you ladies (and gents). Number one is: where did the Elitist Jerks page for elemental shamans go? I relied on that pretty heavily before I quit WoW for a couple months, and now it's gone! I don't know what my glyphs should be? And number two: I tried TotC 10-man for the first time last night (see above, been gone for a while) and went OOM tank-healing WITH a flask on the first fight. The other shaman did too, and I think the priest was getting there when we wiped. Part of the problem might be that we have essentially three raid-healers: two resto shammies and a holy priest. So I think I need to re-gem and glyph more towards single-target heals. I plan on getting Talisman of Resurgence which should help with my mana pool, and eventually Purified Lunar Dust. Should I prioritize getting Ephemeral Snowflake over either of those, or something else entirely? Right now I'm pretty much stuck with things I can get from 5-mans and badges. My armory is here, any advice you have would be much appreciated! Current Mood: cold |

MyRolePlay, Tongues - Add-on help
I posted this question at the Moonshyne forums, but then it dawned on me that you ladies might know what I'm doing wrong. When I have X-perl loaded I cannot see my own detailed tooltip when I hover or click on my portrait. Also, when I turn off X-perl I have to hover over my portrait "just right" to get the detailed tooltip ... so maybe it's a conflict with something else? Any advice is very welcome. I'm currently running: Grid Cartographer Quartz Decursive Enchantrix EngBags Chatter Tongues All my more advanced add-ons are turned off for this RP toon because he's a low level and they are not needed. In the event simply having them installed could be part of my problem, I'll list them as well. Installed but not turned on: Auctioneer Omen DeadBossMods Recount ALSO, I cannot figure out Tongues.
